Adipic Acid Manufacturing segment reported 43% increase in emissions growth at for 2020 as compared to the last year. The segment also accounted for the highest facility intensity rate at 4.95 million MTCO2e per facility as compared to 339,000 MTCO2e per facility for all segments. Higher emissions were due to higher N2O emissions vented through process related emissions at a plastics and resin manufacturing facility 100% owned by Ascend Performance Materials located in Escambia, Florida. The facility has been identified with a CAA violation and has had 14 instances of formal and informal actions taken and has been fined $31,000 in the last 5 years

Under Acid Gas Removal segment in Oil and Gas sector, 12% of the emissions were measured by CEMS, 17% by installed vent meters, 47% emissions calculated from Inlet or outlet gas flow rate. The rest 24% of the emissions were calculated using standard simulation software packages. Operators still need to install CEMS systems for more than 576 AGR units for better emissions reporting for the segment.

Antero Resources vented more than 60,000 MTCO2e of methane in 2020 during liquid unloading of its wells. The company should install 298 plunger lift systems at its onshore production sites at a total capital cost of approximately $6 million and can effectively manage to collect and sale 154 BCF of Natural gas, and can recover entire capital cost to install plunger lifts in just a span of two months.

Williston Basin Gathering and Boosting pipeline intensity was least amongst top basins in United States at 18.2 MTCO2e/Total Hydrocarbon Received by the facility, as compared to 40 for Permian Basin. Total number of High and Intermittent bleed devices stood at 1,358 in the Williston basin as compared to 18,093 in Permian basin indicating lesser and shorter pipelines available for gathering hydrocarbons in the basin

EOG Resources can reduce their methane emissions in Permian basin by 95% using current emissions reduction methods at a cost of approximately $50-55 million at a rate of reduction of $2,350 per ton of CO2e. The higher cost of reduction is due to need to install 1,033 vapor recovery units at unit cost of $50,000, perform 108 green completions at an average rate of $33,000 per unit and 17 plunger lift systems at unit cost of $13,000

Koch Industries reported decline in production waste generation in 2020. The company reported following as source reduction methods adopted in 2020 which contributed to the decline. In September 2020, SCR catalyst was replaced and control logic was altered resulting in reduction of ammonia emissions at Koch fertilizer manufacturing facility 2) Koch eliminated a boiler unit at the Molex facility reducing small amount of blowdown wastewater 3) Elimination of coal firing unit for RY 2020 at the Georgia-Pacific consumer facility 4) Koch Heat ordered pre - fabricated headers used for tank heaters. The headers are cut bent drilled and fitted by outside suppliers allowing Koch Heat to save on pipe scrap and scrap metal associated with drilling 18 holes in the header at its boiler and heat exchanger manufacturing facility 5) Koch modified equipment layout and piping at Flint Hills petrochemical manufacturing facility resulting in approximately 21% waste reduction.

Emissions from power plants are no longer largest contributor. Transportation sector overtook emissions from electric power generation in 2017 owing to more than 50% decline in emissions from coal fired power plants since 2010 and power utilities migrating to cleaner and cheaper source of energy - natural gas. Emissions from motor cars light and heavy trucks have continued to rise, with no immediate solution
