If you’re installing solar on a home in Rancho Mirage, the RMEA will provide a rebate of $500 to cover your permit fee, after the utility company has granted permission to operate. If you’re a Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) customer, you can receive a $300 rebate for installing a residential solar panel system.The Disadvantaged Communities – Single-family Solar Homes (DAC-SASH) program provides upfront rebates to income-eligible, single-family homeowners who are customers of Pacific Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison, or San Diego Gas and Electric. California has a net metering policy that credits you for the extra electricity your system produces, and allows you to use those credits when your system doesn’t generate enough power. Plus, you qualify for the federal solar tax credit.
